STS 51-f was a space shuttle mission launched by NASA on April 24, 1985, utilizing Space Shuttle Discovery (OV-103). The mission's primary objective involved deploying the Gamma-Ray Observatory (GRO), an astronomical satellite designed to study high-energy celestial phenomena such as gamma rays and X-rays. The spacecraft lifted off from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
