The STS 51-J mission was a planned Space Shuttle flight by NASA, originally scheduled for April 6, 1986. This mission, designated as mission 51-J, aimed to deploy two communication satellites. Unfortunately, the mission did not occur as the Space Shuttle Challenger disastrously exploded 73 seconds after launch on January 28, 1986, leading to a temporary suspension of the Space Shuttle program and a complete reevaluation of safety procedures before resuming flights in September of the same year.
