The West Coast Skip Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus 'West Coast Skip') is Attractive upright broadleaf evergreen shrub perfect for areas with periods of shade. Featuring white 5″ spike like white fragrant flowers April-May before new leaf production. A medium to fast grower.  Planting: Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well drained moist soil. Laurel is very adaptable and will thrive in sandy soils, clay soils, alkaline and acidic soils. Laurels will thrive equally in sun or shade.  Watering: For the first week or two after planting, water your laurel every day, then gradually reduce to once a week or every 10 days. Mulching (3-4" deep) helps during hot/dry spells.  Fertilizer:  Fertilize in spring after flowering, using a slow-release fertilizer. Pruning: Laurels do not need much pruning, but will respond well to it.
