Variety: Pinot Noir When it comes to old vines, the Roty family has not only some of the oldest vines in Burgundy, but incredibly some of the oldest vines in France. To pair nicely with their old vines, the family is noted as one of the oldest winemaking families in their home of Gevrey-Chambertin dating back 11 generations, though rumor has it it’s dated back 14. Their winemaking style is akin to their vines; traditional and unwavering making for bottles meant to age. The family has certainly stood the test of time. After several recent bouts of death in the family, Philippe Roty took the wheel in 2001 and continues the classic, restrained style of his family.
