On a birthday week a few years ago, my husband booked us a week in Cape Cod for the week after Labor Day, after most of the Summer tourists had gone. One of Cape Cod; 's great attractions is the many rustic lighthouses that dot the waterfront. Why do lighthouses seem to always draw us in? This thought came to mind as I was looking at Cape Cod’s famous Highland Light. More than just an old building, it’s a piece of history, shining and guiding sailors for decades. The white tower and the homes on the hillside made it impossible to focus on anything else. I came to photograph the Cape Cod seascape, but the Highland Light instantly became the main focus of my shot. The sky was a brilliant blue, and the lighthouse stood out clearly as if it had a story to tell. Cape Cod’s Highland Light, or Cape Cod Light, feels like the heart of the coastline, overseeing the island’s rugged beauty. Setting up, I reflected on how many people had depended on this lighthouse. Sailors must have felt hope seei
