Original Item: Only One Available. "The Gun that Won the West!" This fine rifle is in .38-40 caliber ( marked 38 CAL. on chamber) with a 24" round barrel and full-length magazine tube. It also still has the 38 CAL. marking on the feed block, as is correct. This rifle looks to have been factory refinished at some point, so it is in just lovely cosmetic condition. Features a the iconic "Buckhorn" rear adjustable sight, with a replacement front sight by MARBLES. The serial number is 177537A denoting the year of manufacture as 1885. The engraving on the top of the barrel is clear: WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT.KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866. OCTOBER 16.1860. Stocks are in great shape, showing the lovely red-brown color of aged walnut, and have been varnished to enhance the glow. Grain is easily visible, and quite attractive.
