Iris has lived in Coney Island for 32 years. Her mother had 8 children, and Iris always helped out around the house. She's been an artist her whole life. She credits her high school art teacher with inspiring her to make the arts a priority in her journey. Now, Iris is learning about sculptures, photography, and art history. She loves that she can express her feelings through art and show it to other people and get their reactions as well. "Being creative has granted me the opportunity to relax, express my feelings, and share them with other people. It's really a love thing. And as an artist you don't know when to stop!"
