18th Century Worcester Porcelain Pencilled and Gilt Teabowl. The facetted bowl pencilled with black-enamelled flowers, slender branches and with mating insects. The interior pencilled with a band of flowerheads, the leaves painted with gilt highlights. Unmarked.  Circa 1758.  1 3/4" H., 3" Diameter.  Condition: some wear to interior well, and some frit with a few tiny black dots, known as kiln blow-outs. A blow-out occurs when a tiny bubble of glaze forms in firing, and then bursts, leaving a tiny divot on the fired surface. This is also known as kiln speckling. The blow outs and frit and speckles are in the manufacture.  Provenance: Simon Spero Antiques, London. Robin Henry Ceramic Collection, New York.  Collection #78.
