Graptopetalum pentandrum 'Murasaki'
Graptopetalum pentandrum 'Murasaki' makes an exceptional specimen plant on a sunny windowsill, or a high contrast component within container arrangements – especially when paired with bright green or deep red succulent cultivars! As is the case with most uniquely hued succulents, ‘Murasaki’ prefers bright lighting conditions – though it is overall less prone to etiolating than other rosette-shaped plants, such as Echeveria. It also strongly prefers dry growing conditions reminiscent of its native Mexico, with a thorough watering being provided only once the soil has become completely dried through from the last one. A porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot will help achieve this environment, as will ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface. During the winter months, be sure to shield ‘Murasaki’ from frost – and in the spring, your efforts will be rewarded with tall inflorescences of uniquely hued blooms in shades of light green with crimson petal tips.
