Cyrtostachys renda is endemic to Borneo, Malaya, Sumatera, and Thailand. It can be found growing in swampy lowland forests of these regions. The ‘Red Sealing Wax Palm’ is a slender, clustering palm with three or more adult stems growing to heights of 50 feet in habitat. The spectacular ‘red sealing wax’ crown shaft sits atop a bright green trunk, ringed with white leaf scars, which creates a jaw dropping contrast of colors. The crown of this palm is erect and appears shuttle-cock shaped. Leaves are a beautiful dark green on top, gray-green on the bottom and the ripe fruit matures to dark purplish-red. This warm and wet loving palm is a very easy and trouble free to grow with the right temperatures and humidity. The Red Sealing Wax palm grows fairly quickly and begins to show its stunning red color at a relatively young age.
