Commissioned by Emperor Constantine and dedicated to the patron Saints of Rome, Peter and Paul, both Apostles of Jesus Christ, it is a religious emblem of the "Third Rome", which was prophesied to extend all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. Erected on the highest hill in the area, it stands out in the distance and, together with the "square Colosseum", is one of the most recognizable buildings of the entire Roman Exhibition.
