
Medium-Grit Styria Austrian Whetstone (For All Scythes)
Crafted with a medium-course grit, this stone is a good "workhorse" stone for: Regular day-to-day match for our Meadow & Light-Brush scythes -- quickly restoring an edge under field conditions. Fine sharpening of our Nordic scythe blades (especially after initial rough sharpening with the Course-Grit Blaumarke Whetstone. Initial sharpening of Farm & Homestead Scythe, or our Grass and Lawn Scythe to correct or restore the blades from a dull condition (to be finished off with the finer Fux stone) To sharpen, wipe the blade clean of any vegetation. Stand scythe on handle with blade at face level and apply pressure while moving the stone from handle to tip. Do not bevel or sharpen the bottom side of the blade. This sharpening process is performed periodically in the field whenever a blade starts to feel slower and less aggressive in its cut.
