This butterfly tie-tuck pin brooch is embroidered with French sequins, Swarovski crystals, and glass beads using haute couture embroidery techniques. French sequins with uneven stripes called "soleil" (sun) are used for the butterfly's front wings, and silver cuvettes (basin in French) are used for the back wings. I also use vintage sequins that I met while attending an embroidery school in France and that hold many memories for me.
