Thelocactus hexaedrophorus lloydii major, commonly known as ‘Suncup’, is a solitary, strong-armed cactus. A native of Southern Brazil, this winter-dormant plant has reddish-white brown central spines with a yellow-colored tip. Suncup belongs to the Cactaceae family and reaches 3-4" inches in height.   Growth Rate The growth rate of the suncup plant is slow. Flowering The white-yellow flowers of this cactus look attractive, especially due to the velvet touch. The blooming season is summer.
