First of all, it looks nothing like any creme brulee that I've ever eaten. Discovered in the Long Island garden of Lois Woodhull, Coreopsis 'Creme Brulee' is a unique, interspecific hybrid between C. grandiflora and possibly C. 'Moonbeam'. The 3' wide, tight clumps have dark green foliage that resemble a lacy leaf C. grandiflora. Starting in midsummer and continuing through fall, the floriferous clumps are topped with deep butter-yellow flowers.
