Coreopsis Heavens Gate PP 16016

I first saw Coreopsis 'Heaven's Gate' in Holland, where it was all the rage since it survived their brutal winters while some of the other newer hybrids had not. This gem originated in the US at Sunny Border in CT, where it occurred as a seedling (not a sport as reported by others) near blocks of C. 'Sweet Dreams' and C. 'Limerock Ruby'. In growth, it is what we wished from C. 'Limerock Ruby'...a compact, hardy perennial with showy flowers. The 18" wide clumps of C. 'Heaven's Gate' are topped all summer with large flowers of ruby pink with a darker red toward the center...truly superb!
