B0017 - Vesuvianite Cluster (Large Crystals) - 520g
A member of the Yucaipa Valley Gem and Mineral Society (YVGMS) told us this is Vesuvianite from the Crestmore Quarry in Riverside County, California. He also added this is an expensive specimen because of the large size of the crystals. The largest is around 2 inches in width. We recently were going through our many totes full of rocks and came across a large number of these crystals. They were not very pretty, so I kept a couple and donated the rest to the YVGMS. I really could not find any online that match the size of these. The specimen weighs 520 grams. That's 18.3 ounces or 1.1 pounds. Vesuvianite (Idocrase) pricing online claims that the green variety is worth $82 per carat. This specimen is 2600 carats, so by their pricing, it is worth $213,200. And this is where you say "Not to me it isn't!", and I would agree with you. So how about 80 bucks? If you flip it for $200,000 let me know because I have more. If you are a museum or non-profit group and want me to donate it for a $
