F0028 - Goldtone Wire Wrap Pendant with Azurite/Malachite
This is a stabilized Azurite/Malachite stone that Marla has wire-wrapped into a pendant using goldtone ParaWire. Azurite/Malachite is a very soft almost chalky stone. Stabilizing it makes it harder so that it can be shaped and polished without breaking. From the consumer point of view, unstabilized Azurite/Malachite would be susceptible to excessive wear, scratches and breakage. The stabilization process allows a two-part clear epoxy mixed with acetone to be absorbed slowly into the stone and allowed to cure. ParaWire is American-made, 99% pure copper wire that is generously plated with fine silver, then given a gold-colored anti-tarnish protective coating for a resilient finish. Soft but strong.
