Eryngium yuccifolium-Rattlesnake Master

Rattlesnake Master looks nothing like any other Illinois-native plant and commands attention in the garden with its unique, architectural presence. It is a striking, silvery blue-green color with coarse, sword-shaped leaves that burst from the ground in a basal rosette and stalks that rise upwards of 4ft tall. Topping these strong, erect stems are branches of round, prickly, thimble-like flower heads. Its seed heads and stalks turn a golden-brown color in the fall and persist through the winter, adding year-round visual interest. Drought-tolerant and deer/rabbit resistant.
