Wenndorfia plana

This is a rare fossil trilobite, Wenndorfia plana- from the Late Emsian- Lower Devonian of Morocco. The trilobite is interesting in that it does not have the distinctive three lobes. The fossil measures 3.0 inches long, and 1.55 inches wide. The entire specimen, trilobite and matrix, measures 4.4 inches long, 2.55 inches wide and 1.55 inches high. The shell is fragile in all of these specimens and therefore, some cracking is inevitable. This is not a molt as the underlying body of the trilobite can be seen in places.
