The amazing woodblock print 'Kacho-zu’ (Birds and Flowers) is by Sanraku Kano (1559-1635), a renowned Japanese Nihon-ga painter of the Kano school. Originally painted during the Edo period as a folding screen, the original (folding screen) is now held in the Freer Gallery of Art, an art museum of the Smithsonian Institution, in Washington, D.C. This print image is a part of a whole painting. The print was published by Tansei-sha in 1983. The publisher's seal, the printer's name 'Mitsuo Hashizume,' and the carver's name 'Sadao Uetani' are located in the right margin.
