An exquisitely bold necklace featuring eleven square gold sheet pendants, each one decorated with the traditional Ottoman Iznik bird and foliate motif -- two birds, probably peacocks, with necks bent backward over their bodies on either side of a stylized tree, a square geometric border framing the motif. The central pendant, larger than the others, features a double border with a raised central motif. Later Persian turquoise beads are strung between the pendants. Superb wearable art.
