Luigi Tecce Polphemo Taurasi Riserva 2016

Country: Italy Region: Campania Type: Red Wine Grape: Aglianico This Taurasi, from 100 year-old organically farmed vines planted by Luigi's grandfather, is earthy, meaty, and layered. Fermentation takes place in open-top, chestnut tini prior to being racked into large, old botti for a second year in wood, before aging at least two more years in bottle.  Aromas of black cherries, mint, leather, smoke, and roasted meats. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, with a long, tangy, mineral finish, the old vines here give the wine great complexity. Raw and wild, yet still precise, with outstanding structure and texture.
