
Intro to patchwork Hand Quilting - Pillow cover
In this intro to patchwork and hand quilting class, you'll create patchwork pillow cover with a zipper closure. This is a great project for anyone who has some beginner machine sewing skills who wants to learn to quilt! You'll learn to cut fabrics for your quilt, learn to back the piece and bind it and hand quilt it. This class is 3 sessions with space in between sessions to allow time for some homework. Class Breakdown: Class 1 (3 hours): -Design pattern of patchwork blocks (traditionally light and dark fabrics) -Cut fabrics into strips -Sew strips Homework: finish sewing all patchwork blocks, cut out solid blocks, border 3 hours -Ideally all patchwork blocks done -Cut out border, solid blocks if not done -Design the pattern -Pin basting -Go over threads, quilt designs, stitching, and how to use a hoop if using -Hand quilt your cover Third class (2 weeks later) 2 hours -Sew on the binding -Finish the binding -Sew the zipper Skills you will learn color theory and planning your design
