
Intro to Patchwork Hand Quilting - Wallhanging
In this intro to patchwork and hand quilting class, you'll create a Nine Patch Wallhanging. This is a great project for anyone who has some beginner machine sewing skills who wants to learn to quilt! You'll learn to cut fabrics for your quilt, learn to back the piece, bind it and hand quilt it. This class is 3 sessions with a two week break in between to allow time for some homework. Class Breakdown: Class 1 (3 hours): -Design pattern of patchwork blocks (traditionally light and dark fabrics) -Cut fabrics into strips -Sew strips -Cut and sew again to form blocks with goal of having 1 full block finished by the end of class Class (3 hours): -Ideally all patchwork blocks done -Cut out border, solid blocks if not done -Design the pattern -Sew blocks together -Lay out backing/batting/top -Pin basting -Go over threads, quilt designs, stitching, and how to use a hoop if using Third class (2 weeks later) 2 hours: -Finish quilting -Learn how to make binding -Sew on the binding -Finish the bin
