Dimensions:  11.3 x 7.5 x 3.3 mm Clarity:  Eye Clean Origin:  Tunduru, Tanzania Treatments:  None Cut / Made by:  Scott Maier Comments: Chrysoberyl is an incredibly underrated gemstone.  It's heckin hard - in fact, the only gems harder are sapphire and diamond!  Plus it's really bright, and comes in all kinds of amazing colors.  Most of the rare colors are expensive, like green chrysoberyl, and alexandrite, but the yellow stuff is much more available! The durability means that the edges of the drill hole are plenty sturdy enough for everyday wear on whatever piece of jewelry this ends up as.  My vision for it has always been to tie the right kind of cord in a simple way through the hole, but I'm sure there are gazillions of ways to make this wearable.   In certain light, the flat front and back surfaces (which are natural crystal planes, with a tumbled finish) give a cool blue-flash similar to moonstone.  Just a dash.  I think it's silk, but I am not
