Bulova Academy Award "R" Model Watch

Offered is this great looking Fully Serviced Bulova Academy Award watch that winds, sets, and runs great and keeps excellent time. It is signed on the movement, dial, crown, and case, so it's all Bulova. The Academy Award watch is an interesting piece of history. Bulova entered a contract with the Academy of Motion Pictures around 1949-50. The watches were to resemble a stage curtain in both case and dial design. However, the Academy soon sought to dissolve the agreement citing that Bulova was trying to associate the watch with the actual award, thereby diminishing the value of the actual award. It makes for an interesting conversation piece and should not be overlooked.
