A lightweight ceramic serving dish with matching lid adorned with intricate and colorful transfers of chrysanthemums and ships sailing off to distant lands. The design is very Aesthetic Movement The handles on both sides of the body and the lid handle are decorated with matching multicolor transfers. The body rests on four raised molded feet. The base and interior are glazed. The body glaze is a cream or ivory color. There are numerous marks impressed into the clay on the base and under the lid. The lid has BROWNFIELD AND IVORY with a diamond and IV at its top. There is also the number 9 and the number 1 above an 82. The base has similar marks. The base again has BROWNFIELD and IVORY but with a 1 over the number 83. There is also a circle next to the numbers, as well as an indistinct diamond shape.
