A decorative pair of Aesthetic Movement Plates with magnolia blossoms, pheasant, and iris design. The design is very Chinese inspired with a lake Tai stone and crooked trunk on the magnolia. The pheasant is even standing in front of bamboo.   The pair of ceramic plates have been glazed and decorated with a brownish transfer. The off-white glaze has a speckling in the brownish color. The rounded shallow foot and base are glazed.   Both plates have the same markings. Transfer marks on the base read MINTONS and the word FAISAN for the pattern. There is a mark in a diamond above the circular mark with “6”, “14”, “J”, “D” in clockwise order, with “Ra” in the middle and the Roman Numeral “IV” above. A “V” with an underline is drawn on. A repeat of the diamond and the word MINTONS is also impressed in clay on the back.   MEASUREMENTS   9 7/8” (25.1 cm) diameter x ¾” (1.9 cm) tall.
