Roman Empire silver denarius coin. Struck for Emperor Antoninus Pius (father of Marcus Aurelius) at the Rome Mint. 3.45g, approx 17x19mm, RIC 204, RSC 288. Dated issue (TR POT XV = 151/2 CE).    Superb portrait and detailed presentation of Annona. Lightly toned with luster. NGC Certified to AU. Obverse: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XV, laureate head of emperor facing right. Reverse: COS IIII, Annona standing left holding grain ears and placing left hand on modius filled with grain set on ship which is half seen. Annona (Latin annōna “corn, grain; means of subsistence”, from annus "year") is the divine personification of the grain supply to the city of Rome.
