Choice Extremely Fine Marcus Aurelius Roman Empire dated denarius coin. Issued 179 CE (TRP XXXIII IMP X), approx 18mm. RSC 967a (only example cited by BMC in the Reka Devnia Hoard), RIC 402 variety (laureate head only). Rare Marcus Aurelius denarius with superb cuirassed portrait! Minted from Spring to Dec 179 CE, during the last full year of his reign, as he died in March 180 CE.  Well struck with nice surfaces and centered flan. Certified by NGC to Ch XF. Obverse: M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust right. Reverse: TR P XXXIII IMP X COS III P P, Fortuna seated left holding rudder and cornucopia with wheel under seat. Fortuna was the goddess of fortune and the personification of luck in Roman religion.
