Very Fine Marcus Aurelius Roman Empire dated denarius, issued 179 CE (TRP XXXIII IMP X), RSC 967a variety (laureate & cuirassed), RIC 402 variety (laureate). Augustus Marcus Aurelius denarius with apparently unpublished draped & cuirassed portrait! Minted from Spring to Dec 179 CE, during the last full year of his reign, as he died in March 180. Certified by NGC to VF. Pedigree: Ex. The Seven Hills Hoard. Obverse: M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG, laureate, draped & cuirassed bust right. Reverse: TR P XXXIII IMP X COS III P P, Fortuna seated left holding rudder and cornucopia with wheel under seat. Fortuna was the goddess of fortune and the personification of luck in Roman religion.
