Victorian Slide Chain with Star Set Opal

Slide chains were originally designed to hold a ladies watch and can still be used for this, but they are very versatile. A long, thin chain with a decorative slide and finished with a watch hook, the slide glides on the chain and stays where you put it. The slide on this chain is an oval of rosy gold, star set with a bright and tiny opal. This chain can be doubled for a shorter look and you can hang pendants, fobs, lockets, or whatever strikes your fancy from the hook. The hook and slide are gold and the chain is gold filled. Circa 1880. Details.....The chain measures 30" long, the slide measures 8.7mm by 7.1mm. In Excellent Vintage condition, with a bit of wear to the back. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
