Original U.S. Winchester Model 1873 .44-40 Repeating Rifle with Heavy Round Barrel made in 1881 - Serial 65404

Original Item: Only One Available. "The Gun that Won the West!" This very fine "frontier used" rifle is in .44-40 caliber with a very nice 24" "Heavy Wall" round barrel. It is correctly marked with MODEL. 1873. on the receiver tang. The caliber markings on the barrel have worn off, but the 44 CAL. marking on the brass carrier block is still intact. We also have confirmed with measurements that it is in .44-40 Winchester Center Fire. Features the classic nickel blade front sight and iconic "Buckhorn" rear adjustable sight, with a full length magazine tube. The serial number is 65404 denotes the year of manufacture as 1881. The engraving on top of the barrel is still clear: WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN CT.KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866. OCTOBER 16.1860. The stocks are in good condition, with a great color and patina, showing wear from use and later cleaning and refinishing.
