Desert Boulder I (23x30")

I painted this piece with a house brush, the same one I used to paint the walls of our house at the time. The shapes in this piece are more vertical. Sometimes in Joshua Tree the boulders have these long wedged stones that lean into and hug each other, and every now and then there are these arches. Through creating Voyager I was inspired by Joshua Tree CA and thinking back on my past cross-country and international travels. I had lived in Europe, America's East coast & West coast, Japan, and plans to go to Mexico in the summer. I continue the Voyager series over many years, as I am thinking of my relationships, staying with partners and friends, periods of time, rhythm of connections and distance of travel and settlement.
