Horizon Over the Boulder (53x56")

Through creating Voyager I was inspired by Joshua Tree CA and thinking back on my past cross-country and international travels. I had lived in Europe, America's East coast & West coast, Japan, and plans to go to Mexico in the summer. I continue the Voyager series over many years, as I am thinking of my relationships, staying with partners and friends, periods of time, rhythm of connections and distance of travel and settlement. – I painted this piece with a house brush, the same one I used to paint the walls of our house at the time. This piece is the first large-scale piece I made with Sumi Ink that I felt connected to. It had a brokenness and heaviness but felt so hopeful. The horizon felt like it had more questions to ask, like it had different lines to offer, rather than feeling... so final, like horizons tend to do. The black ink beyond black,
