October Magic® Orchid™ Camellia
Camellia sasanqua 'Green 94-035' PP20465 The smaller semi-double white to pink blooms give this camellia it’s orchid name, due to the orchid-pink colored highlights on this profuse bloomer. A bit of magic in October, the fall blooming time is characteristic of the sasanqua camellias when everything else is already done with their flowers. Best in full sun to part shade, when left to its own devices a compact conical shape is assumed. This is a relatively narrowly growing camellia, and is a rich dark green evergreen. Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
