Selenite, also known as gypsum, is a white evaporite mineral that forms in distinctive thin blades.  Because selenite crystallizes as thin blades, it also crushes up into progressively smaller, elongate crystals during the crushing process. This particular selenite is very clean and is from Morocco. Our powdered material consists of mostly silt and clay sized particles. Our powders do have a slight grit to them. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.  Mineral Properties Mohs’s Hardness: 1.5 - 2 Specific Gravity (g/cm3): 2.25 - 2.35 Luster: Vitreous, Pearly, Greasy Color: White Origin: Morocco This product is not man-made, mixed with resin, dyed, or stabilized. Pictures are taken in full sun and material is dry. Size measurements are using the metric system (millimeters).
