This is a crystal cluster of rich black tourmaline, also known as Schorl. The crystal features striated structure and excellent luster--schorl is prone to brittleness and breakage, so the structural lines and surface textures of this crystal make it especially desirable. One end is terminated, and the other has an organic roughness. The cluster is composed of one large single crystal with smaller smoky quartz crystal segments attached. Damaged sections are left unpolished, and are seen in chips and abrasions. This inky black crystal cluster would be ideal for display, gridding, or jewelry work!
