The crystal features striated structure and good luster, despite being heavily etched and included by golden iron oxides--schorl is prone to brittleness and breakage, so the structural lines and surface textures of this crystal make it especially desirable. The cluster is composed of many smaller faces on one large freeform specimen. Damaged sections are left unpolished, and are seen in chips and abrasions.
