Rolex Datejust ref.1600 Gilt Tropical dial from 1964

The rarest variations ever produced in the classic series of the Datejust model, these early lacquered dials are very prone to change their hue to a desirable brown very different from conventional dials, they have a unique shine and mirror finish. These dials fall into the serial number range 1xxxxx to 1.5xxxxx and were produced for a very short period of time between 1964 and 1967. The present watch is a true rarity, the earliest gilt Datejust we have seen with a serial number in the 998xxx range, additionally the dial has arrow gold markers which go really well with the brown hue and golden gilt text.
