Once again the Spanish seaside resort was the site of a stirring duel for first-place honors. A trio of masters, Rubinstein (+8 -2 =9), Spielmann (+8 -3 =8) and Nimzovitch (+8 -3 =8), engaged in a spirited struggle that was only decided in the last pairings of the tournament.
